Nimibia’s history is quite interesting and also heartbreaking Ravaged and colonized to within an inch of its life, Nambia is left shaped largely by German culture and sadly lacks any significant culture of its own.
But hidden in plain sight is an indigenous people who have held tightly to their cultural identity and remain largely untouched by modern society, the Himba tribe. This juxtaposition is intriguing, to say the least.
I had an opportunity to visit with the tribe and the experience was both intriguing and humbling.
I wanted a way to memorialize the moment so I created a blog post.
The Chief of the tribe
The village
Inside of the Chief’s hut
The women of the village
The children of the Himba tribe
In summary…
A simple Google search will provide ample information regarding the Himba tribe if you’re interested. What I aim to achieve here is to have you EXPERIENCE the moment with me. To feel what I felt and see what I saw through my eyes and camera lens.
